The bacterial baginosis (or BV) is a very irritating disease if not a dangerous one. This disease occurs due to the over growth of the bacteria already present in the vagina. The condition was given a specific name to describe the start of this over-production: Gardnerella vaginitis. Better study on the conditions shows that there are many different species of bacteria that live inside the female’s vagina and many of them are not good. There are many bacterial vaginosis symptoms and the top one is a certain unusual discharge accompanied by a bad odor.
Imbalance in the vaginal bacteria could lead to foul smelling discharge and the woman who starts to experience such symptoms must refer to a good doctor immediately otherwise it could lead to more serious cases such as Chlamydia and Gonorrhea.
What are the symptoms of Bacterial Vaginosis?
The foul odor of the vagina is the first symptom that should be enough to set off the alarm bells. Generally, this could vary from woman to woman, based on the amount of secretion of the discharged liquid. The other side of this is that there are many women who do not have any bacterial vaginosis symptoms but still somehow test positive for the test. Many women could find a very disturbing fish-like smell which emanates from their vaginal discharge. The typical color of this discharge is grayish white and it is thin in nature. These secretions are more noticeable after an intercourse.
What are the causes of Bacterial Vaginosis?
The main cause of BV is the combination of many bacteria that together lead to the development of this infection or disease. The most common bacterial vaginosis symptoms, the discharge and the bad odor, are due to the increased concentration of the many other bacteria that are present in the vagina. Mostly increase is seen in the anaerobic or unwanted increase in oxygen and decrease in lactobacilli.
The treatment of BV has not proven to be so easy and the factors that seem to cause an easy onset are multiple sexual partners, smoking and douching. To get rid of these bacterial vaginosis symptoms, it is essential that proper medical advice is taken.
